Fallen Lizards

To our fallen United States Navy Skyknight and Lizard shipmates—we remember you not simply as names in an old cruise book or faces in a faded photograph, but as the men and women who stood beside us, worked beside us, flew beside us, and shared a part of our lives that can never be replaced. We remember the long hours, the roar of aircraft, the smell of JP-5, the laughter in the ready room and maintenance spaces, and the friendships forged far from home. Years may have passed, but time cannot erase the bond between shipmates. Once a member of the squadron, always a member of the squadron.

Today, we quietly remember those who have answered their final muster. Some were lost while serving our country; others returned home, raised families, grew older, and eventually departed on their final flight. However they left us, their names and stories remain part of our squadron’s history and part of us. So we raise a glass and bow our heads to the friends who are no longer standing beside us. Fair winds and following seas, Shipmates. Your watch is over, your aircraft is secured, and your final flight has departed—but you will never be forgotten.
